critique

Thank you exhibitors for a lovely entry and the sporting way you took your placings a nice entry for a working day. I found quality in all classes, I don’t think one class went without applause, which made a pleasant change to the atmosphere around the ring. Well done to you all. Again, movement was my deciding factor when splitting hairs. A Shih Tzu moves correctly if it is built correctly.

MPD (11). 1 Devine and Grace’s Mirazian Symbol of Freedom. What a little charmer, took my eye immediately for his well balanced shape. Lovely head and expression. Well constructed with good angulation. Super temperament, moved with style for one so young. Nicely presented will watch his progress, should have a good future; 2 Vose’s Thairo Trivial Pursuit for Cimona. Gold/white again a lovely shape and outline. Nicely built with good angulation. Lovely head, dark eye, good jaw. Well presented, moved nicely, just preferred the front extension of the first; 3 William’s Paliden Star Dynasty.

PD (10). 1 Cooke’s Thaisu Strictly Sinatra. I liked this boy, everything in the right place. Nice expression, good nose placement, dark eye, wide jaw. Body developing nicely, he’s only just into p. Moved correctly, coat coming along well. Pushed hard in the challenging the pb, lost out on maturity. This small kennel has its act together to produce lovely stock, will watch his progress with interest; 2 Fairchild’s Harropine Fire Element. Striking black/white youngster. What a lot to like about this boy. Lovely head, the darkest of pigmentation, well balanced, confident on the move. V well presented; 3 Vose’s Thairo Trivial Pursuit for Cimona.

JD (5). 1 Frank’s Hashanah Lock Stock N Barrel. Super 13 mth old red/white boy. Lovely head, nice expression, dark eye, wide jaw, good dentition. Good shoulders, nice reach of neck and a level top line. Well angulated stifle, good balanced tail. Moved with drive, best mover in the class, good front extension. Well presented as all are from this kennel. Needs a little time to fulfil his potential, when he does he will challenge the best. Pleased to award his RCC; 2 Dowson’s Penorson Liang. Another nice young male just out of p. Nice gold/white, body well developed. Good eye and jaw, ample length of rib, level top line and well balanced tail. Not quite the confidence of the winner, with his profuse coat he was feeling the heat; 3 Mark’s Tansingh Hot Couture.

ND (3). 1 Flack and Hannah’s Otraharp Forever Magic for Mifcah. Unplaced in a strong p class but a very cute youngster. Developing nicely got his act together in this class he just needs time to settle and this will come with a little patience; 2 Rutter’s Ethelsmead Dirty Harry. Nice black/white. Pleasing head and strong body, moved well but not quite with the enthusiasm of the first. Well turned out.

GD (3). 1 Monk’s Mylurose Touchin Wood for Morhenjo. Pale gold/white d, nice nose placement, good eye and a pleasing expression. Nicely developed body with a good shoulder placement and nice outline. Strong rear quarters, moved well round the ring. Well presented; 2 Flack and Hannah’s Berylendans Wordsworth to Mifcah. Nice body of good substance, nice expression, just preferred the balance of the first, well presented; 3 Flack and Hannah’s Tangse Don’t Worry Be Happy with Mifcah.

PGD (7). 1 Stirzaker’s Harropine The Devonian for Mylurose. Lovely brindle/white handsome d. Lovely head and expression with the darkest of eyes and a lovely wide jaw and good dentition. Strong well developed body with good angulation, level top line and balanced tail. Well sprung rib, good muscle tone. Moved with drive, well presented in good jacket; 2 Mark’s Tansingh Tenacity. Good black/white, pleasing head with good eye. Well constructed, good spring of rib, nice angulation, nice balanced moved well but feeling the heat, was a little reluctant to give of his best, nice strong coat, well groomed; 3 Jones’s Zuthis Licensed To Love for Carlita.

LD (7). 1 Lintern’s Hashanah Elite with Mingshu JW. I gave him the Reserve ticket last time out. He has now matured in coat and stature. I still like his strong head and overall balance and thought he deserved his second ticket. I hope his third comes soon. He has reached his potential and will be an asset to the breed. Pleased to award him the CC. In the challenge he was feeling the heat; 2 Peat’s Tameron Mr Allure to Kareth. Gold/white 2 yr old handsome d. Lovely outline both standing and on the move, very well balanced. Nice head, dark pigmentation, good mouth. Well angulated body with ample spring and depth of rib. Level top line both standing and moving, good front extension and strong rear drive. Moved with purpose, nicely handled and presented in good jacket; 3 Vose’s Zuthis Bug-A-Lugs around Cimona.

OD (3). 1 Grugan’s Jardu Tobii Tobias. One of my favourites. Lovely expression on this young man. Dark eye, good jaw, nice well placed stop. Body developing, well muscled, nicely angulated. I gave this young man BP at Belfast and he has not disappointed his early promise; 2 Forbes’ Ekland Twice Knightly. Gold/white 4 yr old boy. Another favourite of mine. Larger in stature to the winner, but beautifully built all in good proportion. Good angulated rear quarters, nice head, body, balance. Beautifully presented.

MPB (4). 1 Goulding’s Glentoth Gold Dust. Lovely babe, sweet expression, good head with lovely wide jaw. Correctly made which reflected in her true Shih Tzu movement. Level top line standing and on the move. Coat coming on well making a very pleasing picture. Nicely presented; 2 Monk’s Paliden Rhapsody In Red for Morenjo. Sweet little poppet, so rich in colour and so Shih Tzu. I commented in my notes “looks like a Paliden be interesting to see if I’m right” - I was. 10 yrs ago it was easy to recognise a type by its stamp, not so easy now. This little lady was made so well, she moved well. Nicely presented; 3 Devine’s Mirazian Nokkia Socks Off.

PB (14). 1 Johnson’s Paliden Walk That Walk at Keytor. Quality class, some lovely p had to go card less, I was spoilt for choice. This young lady just asked to be there, her look spoke volumes. “Look at me, what are you doing down there” and she moved with the same attitude. So well constructed fore and aft with a super head and the darkest of eyes. Lovely balance and put down to perfection. I could hear Ellen saying “that’ll do me” and she will certainly do for me, BP; 2 Jones’s Shajo Heart Breaker for Fairlou. Yet again a lovely constructed b, such a shame to meet the first in such good form. Striking black/white in good jacket and an arrogant expression. Well presented; 3 Goulding’s Glentoth Gold Dust.

JB (9). 1 Forbes’ Debeaux Last Laugh to Ekland. Another quality class, some lovely movers here. Again a very snooty young miss with an arrogant air. So well constructed and balanced a “limo” look about her. Needs time to settle and she will be in strong contention for the high honours. Put down to perfection; 2 Lintern’s Mingshu High Calibre. Quality again was in evidence, lovely red gold/white. Nice head, dark eye, good jaw, body developing nicely. Pleasing balance standing and on the move, not as mature in nature as first, a case of “splitting hairs”. Well presented. I notice 2 and 3 have the same sire; 3 Mark’s Tensingh Drop Dead Gorgeous.

NB (2). 1 G Gold Dust; 2 Rutter’s Ethelmead Wenarry Met Dazy. Nice black/white b nice shape and body developing well, nice head and dark eye. Moved well giving a good account of herself, but there can only be one winner and I preferred the expression of the p. Well presented.

GB (4). 1 D Last Laugh to E; 2 Percival’s Kareth Katalina at Permac. Nice gold/white b, nicely constructed with a good layback of shoulder (hard to find these days) good angulation. Sweet head and dark eye. Moved well. Preferred the arrogant expression of 1; 3 Brown’s Destiny’s Child.

PG (11). This was a lovely class to judge. The bitches were so strong in the type I like. 1 Frank’s Hashanah Red or Ded. Gave her BP last time I judged, developing really well. Lovely classic lines, beautifully balanced. A lovely elegant neck carrying a beautiful head and the most melting eyes. Moved with good front extension and drive. Put down to perfection. The heat got to her in the challenge, but she was in strong contention; 2 Bradshaw’s Janarye Secret Obsession. Looking in the catalogue I see she has the same sire as the first so type is coming through. It is nice to see dogs stamping their mark again. This young lady is hallmarked with the same attributes as 1. Lovely head, style and balance, nice to go over and to watch her good movement. Lovely presentation, will watch her progress; 3 Iles’s Caljenta Touch Of Faith.

LB (9). 1 Lord’s Huxlor Triggered Fantasy. Liked her as a youngster, not disappointed with her progress. What elegant carriage and aristocratic head this young lady has and impeccable dress sense, flame red is definitely her colour. Held my attention and defied dismissal. Put down to perfection but did suffer with the heat in the challenge, RCC; 2 Ace’s Glentoth Cofi N Cream with Matsonic. Unlucky to meet 1 in such good shape because this young b has a lot going for her. She has a classic Shih Tzu head of good proportions, darkest of eyes and a tipped nose, which gives that lovely oriental expression. A strong body with well laid shoulders and good rear angulation. Her tail balances her head giving a pleasing outline. She moves reaching well forward and drives from the rear. In good jacket of a lovely texture. Well presented; 3 MacDonald’s Centastage Heaven Can Wait.

OB (5). 1 Frank’s Ch Hashanah Flash Point. I gave her RCC last time I judged, she pushed hard the, this time she was not denied. Loved her then no need to change my min, she has gone from strength to strength. A worthy champion, top b last year, that say’s it all. Pleased to add BOB to the CC. Delighted she took G3 against strong competition. Well presented, well done, well deserved; 2 Townsin’s Redhall With One Look. One look is all you need, the quality shows. Again this lady is top draw. Classical lines, well hallmarked, two beautiful b, difficult choice. Yet again a nice headed young lady, with dark warm eyes. Nicely balanced, carried her head and tail well on the move. Moved with style in lovely coat, well presented; 3 Scott’s Poca Chica.
