It was both an honour and a pleasure to judge Shih Tzu dogs at this breed club’s 34th Championship Show. My very grateful thanks to all concerned, not least exhibitors and their dogs.

Sp BEG D (6)
1 Flack & Hannah’s Otraharp Forever Magic. 7 month youngster showing good promise. Well Balanced. Scored in this class by having sufficient width behind. Correct coat quality.
2 Ritchie’s Laumerand Dream Maker. More mature and well presented, in excellent coat. Pleasing head proportions but would have appreciated closer bite. Good balance in profile.
3 Carwardine’s Fairlou Red Rum JW

1 Grugan’s Ch & Ir Ch Jardhu the Republican. Still in great condition at 9 years old. Typical tail set, good front and correct topline. Lovely skull shape and eye. Moved with confidence. A very worthy Best Veteran in Show.
2 Lees’ Pekoe the Amber Nectar. Another well-kept veteran. Nicely balanced, well-presented gold/white, with pleasing skull and good topline. Good coat quality.
3 Culverhouse’s Zeeva Magic Circle Round Lykath.

1 Naulls & Barker’s Wynlee Mister Nice Guy. Small but beautifully balanced gold/white baby, still with time to grow on. Plenty of confidence. Lovely skull and expression. Well shaped rib, with correct rib/loin proportion.
2 Otraharp Forever Magic for Mifcah.
3 Robinson & Larmour’s Anthrosyl Ebony Maplesgem.

PD (14)
1 Howard’s Tameron Mr CK Wun. Beautifully balanced and well-presented black, scoring in rib/loin proportions. So soundly constructed, with super head and expression. Correct hind quarters and tail set. Not quite giving his all on the move, but well deserving of his win in this strong class. (Best Puppy Dog)
2 Franks’ Hashanah Lock, Stock N Barrel. Another dog put down to perfection. Gold/white with excellent coat quality. Lovely head, eye and expression, with typical skull shape.
3 Rutter’s Ethelsmead Dirty Harry.

1 Williams’ Crowvalley Tears of A Clown. A clear winner in this class, placed VHC in a very strong PD class. Good balance and soundly constructed throughout. With pleasing rib. Good eye. Moved soundly.
2 Grana & Glover’s Anyang Mandarin Man. This well-balanced dog still needs to settle. Top-knot presentation needs improvement, but beneath is a lovely skull and good eye. Correctly balanced.
3 Monk’s Mylurose Touchin’ Wood for Mohenjo.

1 Robinson’s Anthrosyl Ebony Maplesgem. Still very much a youngster in every department. B/wh with pleasing skull. Good tail. Lots of potential and promise when matured I feel.
2 Garry’s Rygar Galileo. Another youngster with good balance. Pleasing topline. Good expression with nice head, eye and tip-tilted nose.
3 Diffey’s Marhilway Golden Nugget.

1 Ritchie’s Laurmerand by Design. B/wh, a clear winner in this class. A little more typicality of rib would have been appreciated, but soundly made with good shoulder placement. Good expression. Typical tailset.
2 Williams’ Sampa Pemba Loo-ming at Tickeltums. Fairly well balanced gold, with good bone and typical eye.
3 Flack & Hannah’s Otraharp Golden Touch to Mifcah.

1 Townsin’s Hashanah Another Level for Redhall. Very soundly constructed grey/wh, of beautiful balance. Good skull, eye and nose placement. Good width to mouth. Pleasing tail set and typical movement.
2 Marks’ Tansingh Tenacity. Lovely head and expression. Soundly made throughout with good shoulder placement. Pleasing coat.
3 Richardson’s Bellakerne Barnaby-Do.

Minor LD (6)
1 Taylor’s Heatherstone Kings Rhapsody. Well-balanced gr/wh with typical head, expression and eye. Soundly made with correct bodily proportions. Good shoulder placement. In good coat. Typical movement and good tail.
2 Scannell’s Hiona Augustus at Jacquibnta. Another pleasing head and expression on this dog, but just preferred rib shape of my winner. In good coat. Typical tail. Well-presented and moved well.
3 Dunkley’s Hodsoll’s Wild Illusion at Kirstman.

1 Davies’s Navross Steel Dann. Grey brindle/wh with excellent proportions throughout. Lovely head, expression and eye. Pleasing coat. Good shoulder placement and tail set. Moved very typically.
2 Pekoe the Amber Nectar.
3 Gibbons’ Incola Simply Dashing of Treeoo.

1 Howard’s Ch Tameron Mr XS. What an absolute pleasure to lay my hands on this soundly made gold/wh dog. Excellent topline and of superb balance, with such typical proportions. Well laid shoulder, so evident in his true movement. In excellent coat and presented to perfection. (DCC & BIS on the decision of Referee, John Carter.)
2 Franks’ Ch Hashanah Hot Shot. Another gold/wh quality Shih Tzu. Superb head and expression, with good, typical eye. Lovely tail set. Full of confidence. Presented well. (ResDCC)

2. Culverhouse’s Lykath Spell By Starlight, black/white, pretty head, similar to the winner in balance but not such good tail carriage.

1. Grugans’ Ir. Ch. Grandavon Lotus Blossom at Jardhu, gold/white in splendid form belying her age, moved very soundly, in beautiful coat and condition, only yielded to her famous Dad in the competition for Best Veteran.

1. Dolphin’s Dolha’s Deja Vue, delightful gold/white baby with all that you would look for in a puppy at this age. If she fulfils her promise, she will be one to watch in the future. Winner of this class, one of the strongest of the day, and of BPIS.
2. Jones’ Shanjo Heartbreaker for Fairlou, another lovely puppy, just not so settled on the move as my winner.
3. Brook’s Sarosim I’m A Bonus.

1. Rutter’s Ethelsmead Wenarry Met Daisy, nice black/white with superb coupling and rear angulation which showed to advantage on the move.
2. Forbes’ Debeaux Last Laugh at Ekland, gold/white, loved the head qualities, quite different type to the winner but another sound and confident mover.
3. Townsin’s Redhill Let Me Entertain You

1. Lintern’s Mingshu High Calibre, bright gold/white, lovely feminine expression, well-coupled, mature for her age and finished in coat, showed and presented well.

2. Symonds’ Berylendans Rose in June, black-masked gold, feminine in head, good coupling and rear angulation, moved well.
3. Deavin’s Hashanah Make It Happen

1. Quick’s Harropine Too Funky at Minfaa, grey/white with an enchantingly feminine head and expression, moved and showed well, presented in full coat of the correct texture.
2. Becquet’s Santosha Rainbow High, gold/white quality bitch, mature and well-bodied, lots of style on the move, I just preferred the head of my winner.
3. Merrett’s Venustus Bette Davis Eyes

O (6)
1. Franks’ Ch. Hashanah Flashpoint, dark gold/white, typical and feminine head, good shoulder placement, coupling, rear quarters and tail carriage, stylish on the move, presented and shown to a high standard. CC.
2. Townsin’s Redhall With One Look, sound standing and moving, everything in balance and very good in rear quarters, not quite the verve of the winner on the move but a worthy winner of the RBCC.
3. Davies’ Harropine Witch And Famous at Navross
