Luton Canine Association held their 2005 3 day Premier Open Show at a new venue this year, The College Equestrian Centre,Keysoe. They had covered the riding school surface with wall to wall beige carpet, which, coupled with the excellent lighting made for a most attractive layout. Unfortunately the show coincided with the coldest day of the year and the show was cold, very cold. I doubt the temperature inside the building crept much above freezing point all day. The dogs shivered, the exhibitors shivered and the judges shivered. The school was heated but the heating was completely inadequate for the conditions. The riding school wasn't just draughty, it had huge gaps in the walls, the heaters didn't stand a chance.
The weather conditions caused an overall absentee rate of 75%. Leonie Leon judged the Shih Tzus with only 5 present from an entry of 14. Dorothy McIntyre's Bakalo Shayna Punim at Shanitau was BOB & Group 4 with Shirley Scott's Tiny Tearaway Tipsy Reserve BOB & Pauline Brook's Sarosim Trigger's Pride Best Opposite Sex.
Jackie Scannell, Jaquinta, also showed her Affenpinschers, click for photo and chair of the Manchu Shih Tzu Society, Jan McIntyre judged the Lhasa Apsos with BOB and Group 3 going to Nicola Crummey's 13 month old bith, Deelayne Madness Divine at Nickanda which gave her the final point she needed for her Junior Warrant. click for photo
