Thank you to all of the exhibitors for allowing me the honour
of judging their bitches in such lovely condition and above all for making my
first Championship show appointment so enjoyable with their obvious appreciation
of my winners, this contributed to the lovely friendly atmosphere of the show. I
was looking for a b which not only met the breed standard but was both sound and
honest with no exaggerations and plenty of ‘breed type’. I was lucky to find
this in most of my class winners, sadly on a more critical note I was not
surprised to feel too many with upright shoulders. The standard calls for the
shoulders to be ‘well laid back’, this allowing the front legs to reach forward
on the move. Unfortunately what we are actually seeing in some exhibits is a
high steping and often stilted action. This may be
considered ‘smart’ by some but is most definitely not tru Shih
Tzu action. Also, an upright shoulder means that the
deportment of the dog will be incorrect and the overall shape
is affected. Naturally as a result of such shoulder placement
I found uncharacteristic necklines with some exhibits almost
unable to carry their heads proudly as the standard also calls
for. Whilst I found many with broad jaws and correct bites I
was saddened to find some, not only with v narrow jaws but
also a few with wry jaws. This must not be encouraged as in
severe cases it would be to the detriment of the dog’s health
and well being. Unfortunately I found some v short ribcages
and some with more Apso style bodies. Whilst presentation on
the most part was v gd, with most shown in lovely coat I was
saddened to see that some lacked muscle tone and firm bodies,
it is possible to have both. If your bitches are fit and well
muscled not only will their health benefit but they will have
a more positive action and show more stamina. I am sorry to be
critical but the future of this lovely breed is entrusted to
us and it is important that we do not lose what many talented
breeders before us have striven to achieve. I must say thank
you for some lovely comments by exhibitors following the
judging. For me, judging must not be personal, it is the dogs
that are being judged. Indeed in some classes some lovely
bitches had to go cardless.

1. Ch Wynele Sing Linnet Sing JW 9 yr old g/w lady, beautifully balanced both
standing and on the move, lovely expression, nicely laid shoulders, firm body
and well angulated hindquarters, moved with real purpose, could show the
youngsters a thing or two. Shown in fabulous coat, which was beautifully
presented, a real credit to her owner
2. Sarosim Kuo Chi Te 8 yr old g/w. Also shown in lovely condition and with full
dentition. Nicely sprung rib, enthusiastic mover, really enjoying her day out.

1. Jenkapa Harlequin Lady 11 mth old b/w. I loved the shape and
size of this young lady. Beautiful head and expression. Lovely
dark well spaced eyes and super pigment. Broad well cushioned
muzzle and tip tilted nose. Nicely arched neck into pleasing
shoulders. Well sprung rib of correct length. Well angulated
hind quarters which she used to give a positive action on the
move. Lovely tail carriage. I hope she has a bright future, v
promising BPB;

Feminine head and expression. Broad jaw and v good dentition. Deep chest and
well sprung rib. Again moving with drive. A shame to meet w in such good form

angulated hindquarters, just preferred the hind action of 1;

1. Galeshi Petite Sirah 20 mth old b/w lady. Lovely shape, beautiful to go over,
feminine head and expression, dark eye, good mouth, deep chest and well sprung
rib, correctly angulated quarters which she used on the move to give a positive
performance. Beautifully presented;
2. Hashanah Jus' My Imagination 2 yr old g/w. Lovely broad skull and broad, well
cushioned muzzle. Deep chest, well sprung rib, table top top line. Well
angulated hind quarters which she used well on the move. Fabulous coat which was
well presented. Unfortunately she is carrying a bit too much weight (I know the
feeling)

solid silver grey. Lovely b, beautiful broad head, soft expression, well
cushioned muzzle, broad chest, v good shoulders and well sprung rib, well
angulated hind quarters which she really used on the move, nice profile both
standing and on the move. Shown in lovely strong coat, which was beautifully
presented;
2. Tanibet Flood Alert 4 yr old solid gold lady of a smaller type. Most
exquisite head and expression, beautiful dark expressive eyes. Nice firm body,
lovely tail set. Well angulated hind quarters. Shown in lovely coat and
condition. A real gem.

1. Marpalyn Chanelle 3 yr old g/w. V feminine head and expression, lovely tip
tilted nose. Dark well spaced eyes. Nice mouth, deep chest, well sprung ribs of
good length. Quarters well angulated to give positive movement fore and aft,
holding her shape on the move;
2. Sarosim Trigger's Pride 3 yr old dark grey and white, nicely balanced outline
which she kept on the move, feminine head, dark eyes, well sprung rib, nicely
angulated hind quarters, steady on the move

OB A varied but strong open b class. .
1. Ch Chanikos Justa Dream G/br/w. I really loved this young b, beautiful
head and expression, dark well spaced eyes and super dark
pigment. V good mouth, nicely arched neck into well laid
shoulders, good depth of chest and nicely sprung ribs, firm
body and excellent muscle. Well angulated hindquarters which
she really used on the move. Lovely tail carriage giving a
balanced outline. She moved as you would expect and never
stopped showing, fabulous outgoing temperament CC and BIS.
2. Ch Love Unlimited For Zeeva At 5 yrs old this lovely gold and white lady, I
think is looking her best. Lovely broad skull, broad well cushioned muzzle,
nicely muscled neck into well laid shoulders, well sprung ribs, firm body and
top line, well angulated hind quarters, positive movement fore and aft, shown in
lovely coat and condition which was well presented. RCC and
RBIS (Decision made by referee S Rawlings).
